Lions' unbeaten streak on the line in Monday night football spotlight

Munich, November 28 - Regional pride, table position, and a hot streak are all on the line when TSV 1860 München travel to northern Bavaria for a derby match against SpVgg Greuther Fürth.  Kickoff is at 20:15 tonight and the match will be live on sport1.

The Lions come in unbeaten in their last 10 matches but still trail Fürth by two points in the table.  In addition, victories over the weekend by the two other clubs 1860 are chasing, makes a win imperative for the Munich side as one point will not be enough.

"We definitely want to win (Monday night)," stated TSV head coach Reiner Maurer.  "It will be an emotional derby, because a win will help either team get to the top of the table."

Despite the unbeaten streak, the Lions have drawn the last two matches, including last Sunday when they gave up a two goal lead.  But they will not and cannot dwell on the past as Fürth presents a huge challenge.  "Greuther are playing a good season and they have high quality in the squad," analyzed Maurer.  The Lions are very familiar with their neighbors, playing them the most of any other 2nd Bundesliga club.  1860 have won 6 matches and drawn 3 times of the 14 league matches between the two, including two wins last year.

Munich are catching Fürth at a good time in the season.  They recorded six wins in their first eight matches, but have lost 3 of their past five.  The return of Marino Biliskov and Milorad Pekovic to the Munich squad will help the team look for its second Bavarian Derby victory of the season.  TSV have already beaten Augsburg 2-1 and will visit FC Ingolstadt 04 in two weeks for the tri-fecta.
