Tragic Accident in Berlin-Köpenick: 13-Year-Old Cyclist Hit by Truck

A 13-year-old boy was injured in a traffic accident in Berlin-Köpenick on Tuesday morning while attempting to cross a road on his bicycle. According to the Berlin police, the incident occurred around 11:25 AM as the boy tried to navigate the Bahnhofstraße between a tram and a truck.

Reports indicate that the 61-year-old truck driver did not see the young cyclist and subsequently ran over both him and his bicycle. The boy sustained a broken arm and injuries to his pelvic area. He was transported to a local hospital for treatment and is currently hospitalized; however, authorities have confirmed that his injuries do not pose a life-threatening risk.

The police have not provided further details regarding the circumstances leading up to the accident. Following the incident, the Bahnhofstraße was closed to traffic between Friedrichshagener Straße and Seelenbinderstraße until approximately 3:30 PM to facilitate the investigation. A specialized traffic crime unit has taken over the investigation of the matter.
