Injury Strikes Tim Mälzer During 'Drei gegen Einen' Football Challenge
Köln - An evening filled with excitement and unexpected twists unfolded during the latest episode of 'Drei gegen Einen' as TV chef Tim Mälzer faced a sudden injury. The competition, featuring Mälzer alongside fellow entertainers Knossi and Jan Köppen, involved nine challenges against champions from various disciplines.
During the 'American Football' segment, competitors faced a grueling obstacle course designed by Heiko Bals of the Potsdam Royals. The challenging tasks included slalom runs, knocking over cardboard cutouts, and sled pulls. As the moderator, Laura Wontorra, detailed the rules, she noticed Mälzer's tense expression, prompting her to remark on his focused demeanor.
However, disaster struck during the sled pull when Mälzer unexpectedly fell to the ground, crying out in pain. Concerned for his well-being, Knossi rushed to his side, but Mälzer remained on the ground, groaning about his thigh injury. The urgency of the situation quickly drew the attention of medical personnel, with Wontorra expressing her concern about the severity of his condition.
Medical experts arrived promptly, and early assessments suggested a possible muscle strain. Mälzer later described the sensation of his injury as akin to a deep bruise, noting the pain that persisted with any movement. Consequently, he had to step back from the competition while his teammate, Sabrina 'Mocki' Mockenhaupt, took over the challenge.
Despite his injury, Mälzer rejoined the group at the sidelines, showing off some cheerleading enthusiasm with the pom-poms. Unfortunately, the team ultimately lost the challenge to their opponents, even with Mocki stepping in as a substitute.
During the subsequent 'Segway Polo' challenge, Mälzer was again sidelined due to his injury. Upon returning to the studio after receiving treatment, he humorously described his medical diagnosis while maintaining a light-hearted spirit, even joking about the nature of his injury.
Determined to continue participating, Mälzer later joined in for the kart racing segment, albeit with visible discomfort. His resilience shone through as he made light of his situation, humorously referencing his physical state while engaging in the challenge.
By the end of the evening, the champions emerged victorious, claiming not only the prize money from the challenges but also an additional 25,000 euros to share among themselves.
