Three Injured in Hospital After Illegal Street Race Crashes into Hedge

Elmshorn, Schleswig-Holstein - A late-night street race in Elmshorn ended in chaos, injuring three individuals and leaving several vehicles severely damaged. On Friday evening, just before midnight, local authorities suspect that an illegal car race took place involving three drivers racing through the city.

Witnesses reported that a Mercedes and two BMWs were speeding through the city center. The race took a dangerous turn on Friedensallee when the last vehicle, a Mercedes, lost control. It veered off the road, collided with two parked cars, knocked down a lamppost, and ultimately came to a halt in a hedge.

Fortunately for law enforcement, the two leading drivers turned around and returned to the scene of the accident. Among the four occupants of the Mercedes, three were transported to the hospital with injuries, while the fourth individual remained unharmed.

In a separate incident in Elmshorn, police discovered drugs and cash during a routine traffic stop, highlighting ongoing concerns about illegal activities in the area.

Furthermore, another severe traffic accident involving a truck and a bus left eleven people injured, three of whom sustained serious injuries. This incident raises further alarm regarding road safety and the dangers connected with reckless driving.

Authorities are currently investigating the incident as a potential illegal street racing event. They have gathered evidence on-site and interviewed witnesses. The Elmshorn volunteer fire department illuminated the area for safety during the recovery efforts, which resulted in the closure of the road for several hours. The damaged Mercedes and the other vehicles involved have been seized by the police as part of the investigation.
