Police Intercept Czech Nationals with Stolen Goods at Border Crossing

Altenberg - A recent burglary in Lauenstein prompted a swift response from law enforcement authorities. The suspects, who are believed to have escaped in a white van bearing Czech registration plates, were intercepted by the Federal Police in Berggießhübel shortly after 3:55 AM on July 30, 2025.

During the stop at the Altenberg border crossing, police discovered several items in the vehicle, including a bicycle, four complete wheels designed for a Hyundai, and a box containing Kümmerling, a type of herbal liqueur. None of the three individuals from the Czech Republic were able to provide proof of ownership for the items found in their possession.

The case has since been handed over to the relevant police precinct for further investigation. Authorities are working to identify the stolen items and connect them to the reported burglary in Lauenstein.

This incident underscores the ongoing challenges law enforcement faces in cross-border crime and the importance of vigilance at border crossings. The Federal Police continue to enhance their collaborative efforts with international agencies to combat theft and ensure public safety.
