Major Earthquake Near Naples Triggers Widespread Concern and Evacuations
Residents in the greater Naples area experienced significant disruption after a sequence of earthquakes, including the strongest to hit the region in four decades, rattled southern Italy. The seismic events began late Friday evening, with the initial tremor registering a magnitude of 4.7. This was followed by several aftershocks, one of which reached a magnitude of 3.8. According to the National Institute for Geophysics and Volcanology (INGV), over one hundred additional minor shocks were recorded in the subsequent days.
