Massive Manhunt Underway After Prison Break in New Orleans

A significant manhunt is currently in effect in New Orleans following a prison break that has left several inmates on the run. Authorities have confirmed that seven men escaped from a local correctional facility, with three of the individuals having been apprehended. Officials believe the escapees may be armed and pose a danger to the public.

The fugitives were reportedly incarcerated for serious violent offenses, and many had already been convicted. In response to the situation, local, state, and federal law enforcement agencies have joined forces to locate the escaped inmates.

The prison in Louisiana has been completely sealed off as a precautionary measure. Residents have been urged to remain vigilant and avoid approaching anyone who appears suspicious. Some individuals who might be at risk have been promptly warned and relocated to safety.

According to a spokesperson for the authorities, the escape was discovered during a routine headcount in the morning. As the investigation unfolded, officials provided details about the circumstances surrounding the breakout, along with images and video footage documenting the incident.

The escape was reportedly facilitated by exploiting a weakness in the prison's sliding doors, which allowed them to be disengaged. The inmates then removed a toilet from the wall of their cell, enabling them to crawl through a narrow hole behind it. Authorities indicated that it would not have been possible to execute this plan without potential assistance from prison staff.

After navigating through a utility shaft, the inmates managed to access an exterior door and subsequently climbed over the prison wall. Their escape route led to nearby railway tracks and a highway.

One official noted that the prison's security measures were inadequate, especially given the high-risk nature of many of its inmates. Another representative emphasized the urgent need for repairs and modernization of the facility, citing the overwhelming workload faced by the staff.
