Lübeck Driver Flees Scene of Collision, Later Turns Himself In

Lübeck experienced a dramatic incident on the Brandenbaumer Landstraße involving a head-on collision between two vehicles. The accident occurred at approximately 6:30 AM on September 4, 2025, when a 33-year-old woman from Herrnburg was driving her BMW in the city direction. An Audi, driven by a 34-year-old man from Lübeck, collided with her vehicle while attempting to make a turn.

The force of the impact caused both cars to veer off the road and come to rest on the adjacent grassy area. The BMW driver sustained minor injuries and was subsequently transported to a local hospital for evaluation.

Following the crash, the Audi driver exited his vehicle through the window and fled the scene on foot, heading towards a nearby Kaufhof store. However, he later returned and presented himself to the police.

Witnesses reported that the Audi bore false license plates at the time of the incident. Both vehicles involved in the accident required towing due to the damage sustained, and debris from the collision also harmed a third vehicle parked nearby. The total estimated damage from the incident is approximately EUR28,400.

The driver of the Audi is now the subject of an ongoing investigation. He is facing several charges, including endangerment of road traffic, hit-and-run, and document forgery. Additionally, police received tips suggesting that he may have been under the influence of alcohol at the time of the accident, resulting in a blood sample being taken for analysis.

This case highlights the serious implications of reckless driving and the responsibilities that come with operating a vehicle. Authorities continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding this incident to ensure that justice is served.
