Fire Breaks Out on 21st Floor of Lichtenberg High-Rise: One Injured

A fire erupted in a residential apartment on the top floor of a high-rise building in Lichtenberg, Berlin, on Wednesday afternoon, leading to the emergency evacuation of several residents.

The Berlin Fire Department reported that the blaze occurred in a 21-story residential complex. Firefighters successfully rescued one individual from the apartment, who was subsequently transported to a hospital due to serious injuries. Additionally, four other residents were guided to safety via the stairwell and were later accounted for on the ground floor.

Firefighting efforts were complicated by the unusable internal water supply system, which is typically used to deliver water to upper floors. As a result, firefighters were required to lower a hose from outside the building's facade to combat the flames effectively.

The cause of the fire is currently under investigation by local authorities. Residents of the building have been advised to remain alert and report any suspicious activity. This incident highlights the importance of fire safety measures in residential buildings, especially those with multiple floors.

As the investigation continues, the Berlin Fire Department urges all residents to familiarize themselves with emergency evacuation procedures and to ensure that smoke detectors are functioning properly in their homes.
