Lian Li Introduces Innovative Power Supplies with Rotatable Power Connector
Lian Li, a prominent manufacturer of PC hardware, has unveiled a series of ATX power supplies featuring a unique rotatable power connector. The new RS-series power supplies are designed to enhance the flexibility of PC assembly and cable management by allowing the cold device connector to rotate at the corner of the unit. This mechanism permits users to install the power supply in a standard or a 90-degree rotated position, accommodating a wider variety of case layouts.
The RS-series is available in two models, offering 1000 and 1200 watts of output power. Both models are equipped with modular connectors and are provided with interchangeable faceplates to support different installation orientations. This feature helps to direct the exhaust airflow outside the chassis, ensuring efficient heat dissipation regardless of the mounting position.
The introduction of the rotating connector addresses a common challenge in PC building: managing power cables in cases with unconventional dimensions. While standard ATX cases typically allow sufficient space for traditional cable routing, wider or uniquely shaped cases can benefit from the alternative orientation, enabling users to conceal cables more effectively and optimize internal airflow.
Each RS power supply includes a comprehensive selection of connectors. Both the 1000W and 1200W models come with a 12V-2x6 connector capable of delivering up to 600 watts to high-performance graphics cards. Additionally, there are four PCIe power cables with a total of five 6+2-pin connectors to support older or additional expansion cards. For CPU power, two eight-pin EPS cables are provided, one of which can be split into 4+4 pins for compatibility with a variety of motherboards.
Lian Li has also implemented dual 24-pin ATX power connectors, positioned on both the left and right sides of the unit. The company advises users to utilize only one connector at a time, selecting the side that best aligns with their specific case design. This approach is intended to further simplify cable management and improve the overall assembly process.
An additional feature included with the RS-series is a magnetic USB 2.0 hub, which can be attached to either the power supply or the PC case. This hub, which supports up to four internal USB 2.0 connections, is available as an optional accessory with the 1000W model and comes standard with the 1200W version. Both power supplies are certified with the 80 Plus Gold efficiency rating, achieving peak efficiency levels of up to 93 percent within the European market.
Lian Li has made the RS-series available in both black and white finishes, with German retailer Caseking listing all variants. Prices range from 155 to 185 euros, and all models are currently in stock for immediate delivery.
The launch of these power supplies continues Lian Li's trend of developing unconventional hardware solutions, as demonstrated in previous product lines such as the Edge series, which also featured innovative connector arrangements. The RS-series aims to provide PC builders and enthusiasts with enhanced installation flexibility and improved system aesthetics, responding to the evolving demands of modern PC assembly.
With the introduction of rotatable power connectors and modular layout options, Lian Li is setting a new standard for adaptability in PC power supply design. These advancements are expected to appeal particularly to users seeking customizable, efficient, and visually streamlined PC builds.
