Police Intervene in Illegal Racing Incident on A24
Ratzeburg - Authorities were alerted to a dangerous situation on the A24 when two vehicles were observed engaging in illegal racing, endangering other motorists. The incident occurred on May 21, 2025, around 6:40 PM, prompting several road users to contact the police regarding the reckless behavior of the drivers.
The vehicles involved included a white Bentley Continental GT, registered in Nordwestmecklenburg, and a black and purple BMW with a registration from Schwerin. Both cars were reported to be speeding excessively as they traveled from Hamburg toward Berlin.
Officers from the Ratzeburg Autobahn Police successfully intercepted the two drivers at the Hornbek junction, where they conducted a thorough check of the vehicles and the individuals involved. Following the completion of their investigation, the drivers--a Russian national and a Ukrainian national--were permitted to continue their journey.
As a result of this incident, the police have initiated an investigation into the potential violation of laws against illegal vehicle racing as outlined in Section 315d of the German Penal Code.
