Hertha BSC Required to Revise Home Jersey Design by DFL

Hertha BSC has been instructed to modify its home jersey following a directive from the Deutsche Fußball-Liga (DFL). The league noted that the team's new jersey design fails to include the signature stripes on the back, which are present on the front. This oversight was initially flagged to Hertha at the end of June.

The club has been given a deadline to rectify this issue by the ninth matchday of the season. However, Hertha aims to implement the necessary changes in time for their first home game against Karlsruher SC on August 10.

According to club representatives, the adjustments to the jersey design are straightforward. The team plans to add stripes to the lower back of the players' jerseys, adopting what is known as the 'Pro' variant. Meanwhile, the current jerseys will still be available for fans as a different version.

This particular design choice is said to resonate well with fans, not only of Hertha but across the league, as it enhances the aesthetic appeal of the jerseys. The new home jerseys, produced by Castore, are priced at approximately 100 euros, making them the most expensive in the second division of German football.

The DFL's intervention underscores the importance of brand consistency and visual identity in football, as clubs strive to present a unified image both on and off the pitch. As Hertha BSC prepares for the upcoming season, the club is committed to ensuring that its players represent the team with the highest standards, starting from their attire.
