Police Seek Two Suspects After Armed Robbery at Hattingen Jeweller
The Hattingen police are actively searching for two individuals believed to be responsible for an armed robbery at a jewellery store in the city centre. The incident occurred on Heggerstraße in Hattingen, a city in North Rhine-Westphalia with approximately 53,000 residents.
According to police reports, the robbery took place in the late afternoon. One of the suspects entered the jewellery shop and threatened an employee with a firearm. The individual proceeded to break open a display case and removed several pieces of jewellery before fleeing the scene. The entire event unfolded within seconds, leaving little time for staff or bystanders to react.
Authorities believe that the suspect did not act alone. Surveillance footage from the area indicates the presence of at least two individuals involved in the incident. The main suspect, described as male, approximately 1.90 meters tall, between 20 and 25 years old, and of slim build, was observed wearing a black quilted jacket, black trousers, and gloves. The police have released images captured by security cameras in the hope that members of the public may assist in identifying the perpetrators.
After seizing the jewellery, the primary suspect exited the store and escaped on foot through the city centre. Investigators suspect that an accomplice was waiting nearby to aid in the escape. Despite initial search efforts immediately following the robbery, the suspects managed to evade capture.
The value and specific details of the stolen items have not yet been disclosed by authorities, as the investigation is ongoing. No physical harm was reported, and no confrontation occurred between the suspects and the store employee. The police have emphasized that anyone with information relevant to the suspects' identities or whereabouts should contact the Ennepe-Ruhr district police department. In addition, they caution the public not to approach the suspects, as they may still be armed. In emergencies, individuals are advised to call the police immediately.
The release of surveillance images is part of ongoing efforts by law enforcement to gather evidence and encourage public cooperation. The authorities are hopeful that new leads will emerge to advance the investigation and bring the offenders to justice.
Members of the public are urged to report any information that may assist in identifying or locating the suspects. The police stress the importance of not intervening directly and to rely on law enforcement to handle the situation, especially given the potential danger posed by armed individuals.
The Hattingen police continue their inquiries, reviewing available evidence and appealing for witnesses who may have observed suspicious activity in the vicinity of Heggerstraße during the time of the robbery. Anyone with relevant details is encouraged to reach out via the official police contact channels.
