Former Inter Milan Coach Saves Teenagers from Drowning on Adriatic Coast

In a dramatic incident along the Adriatic coast of Italy, Andrea Stramaccioni, a former coach of Inter Milan, took swift action to save two young women from drowning. The event unfolded earlier this week while Stramaccioni was vacationing with his family in the Apulia region of southern Italy.

The two teenagers, aged 17 and 19, were reportedly struggling in the water and calling for help when Stramaccioni noticed their distress. Without hesitation, he recognized the gravity of the situation and jumped into action. As per reports, a lifeguard had already entered the water to assist one of the girls, prompting Stramaccioni to focus on the other.

Despite the challenging conditions, including strong waves, Stramaccioni managed to reach the 17-year-old, who was in a perilous state, repeatedly going under the water and swallowing significant amounts of it. The situation was further complicated as a rescue boat struggled to navigate near the rocks where the girls were located.

In an effort to save the girl, Stramaccioni successfully brought her to safety between the rocks. After safely delivering her, he encountered difficulties himself and lost his bearings, colliding with the rocks before receiving assistance from bystanders who threw him a rope.

The two young women, who hail from South Tyrol, expressed their gratitude to Stramaccioni for his courageous intervention. Following the rescue, the local coast guard presented him with a red lifeguard vest in recognition of his heroic efforts.

Stramaccioni, who held coaching positions with various clubs, including Udinese Calcio and Panathinaikos, most recently coached in Qatar until October 2022. His quick response during this emergency highlights a remarkable act of bravery that has drawn attention in the media.
