Was zu verschwinden droht, wird Bild. Mensch - Natur - Kunst

Lenbachhaus

This exhibition explores the themes of disappearance and transience in art, particularly in the context of our rapidly changing environment due to climate change. It presents a range of works from the 19th and 20th centuries by renowned artists such as Albrecht Adam, Rosa Marie-Rosalie Bonheur, and Wassily Kandinsky, among others. The artworks serve as a poignant reminder of what once existed and now only lives on through images, reflecting the melancholic meditation on the loss of natural beauty and the urgency of ecological awareness.

Curated by Karin Althaus, with assistance from Johannes Michael Stanislaus, the exhibition features both familiar and rarely seen pieces, inviting viewers to contemplate the relationship between humanity, nature, and art.
