Simon Lässig und Vera Lutz: Romeo's eyes
In their first institutional exhibition, Simon Lässig and Vera Lutz present newly conceived film, photographic, and installation works that engage with the politics of seeing and showing. The focus is on the long-standing dialogical collaboration between the two, which began in Munich in 2015.
Lutz often develops her works in dialogue with the exhibition space, exploring how art reflects itself and what rules or structures dictate our perception of images. Lässig works with historical film material, examining how our way of seeing is shaped by repetition, imitation, and cultural influences.
Accompanying program includes a lecture by poet, translator, and literary scholar Jennifer Scappettone (date to be announced, www.kunstverein-muenchen.de).
Film screening: "Lunch Break" by Sharon Lockhart on Sunday, July 20th at 18:00, Theatiner Filmkunst.
Opening on Friday, May 9th from 19:00 (until August 17th).
