Leroy Jones

On Sunday, October 12, 2025, from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM, the renowned jazz trumpeter Leroy Jones will perform at Asamtheater Freising. Jones has built a lasting friendship and musical partnership with the exceptional clarinetist and saxophonist Uli Wunner over the past two decades, dating back to their initial encounter at the Jazzfestival Ascona in 1997. Since then, Wunner has accompanied Jones on numerous tours across Europe, and they are finally bringing their collaboration to the ASAM stage.

Leroy Jones is celebrated as one of the most significant trumpeters of recent decades and is a prominent figure in the 'New Orleans Today' movement, which revitalizes traditional jazz infused with elements of blues, R&B, and funk. Uli Wunner, a local Freising talent, enjoys an outstanding reputation not only in Germany but also within the vibrant musical community of New Orleans.

The band features: Leroy Jones on trumpet and vocals (USA), Uli Wunner on clarinet and saxophone (Germany), Thilo Wagner on piano (Germany), Karel Algoed on bass (Belgium), and Guillaume Nouaux on drums (France).
