HMTM x Bergson: Duo EMPuLSe - David gegen Goliath
Join us for an extraordinary classical music concert featuring the talented duo, Erik Maier on violin and Paul Suttner on percussion, as part of the HMTM x Bergson series. This event will take place on Saturday, June 7, 2025, from 15:00 to 16:15 at the Elektra Tonquartier, located within the Bergson Kunstkraftwerk in Munich.
The Hochschule für Musik und Theater München (HMTM) is renowned for cultivating some of Germany's finest musical talents, with notable alumni including Jonas Kaufmann, Julia Fischer, and Christian Gerhaher. In this concert, the duo will perform a captivating program, including the piece 'David gegen Goliath' by composer Vladimir Genin, dedicated to them. This work invites the audience to ponder the identities of David and Goliath, leaving them to interpret the narrative themselves.
With the timeless theme of a small and brave fighter confronting a seemingly unbeatable opponent, the concert promises to showcase the duo's virtuosity and passion. Erik Maier and Paul Suttner, both students at HMTM, will also perform a diverse selection of solo and duet pieces from various eras. Expect to hear works by Johann Sebastian Bach, Eugène Ysaÿe, Mark Glentworth, and original compositions by Paul Suttner, alongside duets by Siegfried Matthus, Darius Milhaud, and Astor Piazzolla.
This unique performance will feature an unusual instrumental combination of violin, marimba, vibraphone, drum set, and various percussion instruments, ensuring an exciting evening full of contrasts and musical surprises.
