In 2024, they arrive by bicycle with a plan to listen to the silence, the wind rustling through the cornfields, and the birds in the trees. However, no one seems to do that anymore; instead, they only complain, a sentiment shared by the three characters. Soon, opinions and viewpoints disrupt the fragile silence, as no one wants to be misunderstood by the others.
In this space, they express what they have been thinking for ages: the issues at hand, the problems of the world, and the need to address them. In this protected environment, the façades of self-presentation fall away, revealing fears and desires in light of a precarious future. Suddenly, those outside become the problem, as the saying goes: hell is other people.
Leo Meier, an actor himself, garnered the audience award at the Heidelberg Stückemarkt 2022 with his debut play, 'zwei herren von real madrid.' In this world premiere of his new play, four actors from the Munich Volkstheater ensemble--Liv Stapelfeldt, Anne Stein, Jan Meeno Jürgens, and Steffen Link--bring to life Meier's delicate and humorous text, which reflects a nervous and perpetually irritated society in search of tenderness.
