Two women work in a butcher shop. Here, the two stranded individuals are left to their own devices. Although they sometimes dish out in their rough craft, they are there for each other. The distraction of making funny sandwiches provides an opportunity to get to know one another. Both seem to have ended up here out of necessity: one is an unsuccessful actress, while the other is a gambling-addicted ticket inspector. Their longings converge under the moon: Luna is the name of the unborn child of one, while the other is convinced that the Big-Moon-Joker will finally pay out next time. However, it has never happened before, and she is already a repeat offender due to payment arrears and other offences. The butcher shop is her last employment option. But are the shady owners truly sincere towards her, or is she merely a means to their end in their pursuit of power?
Anaïs Clerc has crafted a piece about friendship, empathy, and the limits of both. Humorously and with warmth, she depicts characters that fall through the societal cracks and illustrates the danger of seeking stability in the wrong arms.
