Ein Haus ohne Mauern bauen

Amerikahaus

Join us on Saturday, May 17, 2025, from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM at Amerikahaus, Karolinenplatz 3, 80333 Munich, for the exhibition titled 'Ein Haus ohne Mauern bauen.' This research and exhibition project explores Munich after 1945 in collaboration with various Munich archives, including the Archiv Akademie der Bildenden Künste München, Archiv der Münchner Arbeiterbewegung, and the Deutsches Museum Archive.

Part of the program by the City of Munich to commemorate 80 years since the end of the war, 'Stunde Null - wie wir wurden, was wir sind,' the exhibition features works from nine artists: Hêlîn Alas, Ina Ettlinger, Dani Gal, Thomas Galler, Mariella Maier, Cora Piantoni, Beo Tomek & Caroline Kapp, and Christoph Westermeier. Each artist has researched archival materials related to post-war Munich, providing diverse perspectives on architectural and societal reconstruction.

The exhibition highlights the significance of the post-war period for our present through themes such as women's lives, new gathering places, the emergence of authorities, and educational concepts of reeducation, presented in installations, films, photo series, and collages.

Curators: Cora Piantoni and Caroline Sternberg.

Additionally, there will be an artist talk on Sunday, March 23 at 11:00 AM, along with artistic interventions at other locations and archive tours. For more information, please visit hausohnemauern.de or amerikahaus.de/stundenull.
