Ach, diese Lücke, diese entsetzliche Lücke
Joachim Meyerhoff's play, adapted by Gil Mehmert, follows the journey of a young man named Joachim who, in his early twenties, escapes the grief of losing his elder brother in an accident and the constraints of his small hometown in northern Germany. He relocates to Munich, where he unexpectedly passes the entrance exam for the Otto Falckenberg School of Performing Arts and moves in with his aristocratic grandparents residing in a grand villa near Nymphenburg Palace.
Over three years, Joachim juggles his rigorous acting training, which deconstructs him both physically and psychologically, and the bizarre, alcohol-infused daily life with his grandparents. He navigates a series of tragicomic events and absurd occurrences in both realms, often leaving him amazed, enlightened, yet overwhelmed and exhausted. The vast gaps that emerge in his early adulthood, he realizes, are significant and far from being filled.
