Delphi Climbs to 9th Place in Tiobe Index as Rust Hits Record High

The latest Tiobe Index for February has revealed significant changes in the rankings of programming languages, with Delphi making a notable ascent and Rust reaching an all-time high.

Delphi, which recently celebrated its 30th anniversary, has moved up from 12th to 9th place in the rankings. This slow but consistent upward trend for Delphi has been observable since 2020, indicating a resurgence in interest and usage among developers.

In contrast, Rust has shown impressive growth, climbing from 18th place last year to 13th this month. This marks Rust's highest position ever in the Tiobe Index, reflecting its increasing popularity and adoption in the programming community.

Meanwhile, the situation is less favorable for PHP, which has dropped from 10th to 14th place, continuing a decline that has been apparent since 2010. The shifting dynamics of the programming landscape highlight the evolving preferences of developers and the technologies they choose to adopt.

At the top of the index, Python maintains its dominance, holding steady in 1st place. C++ has moved up to 2nd place from 3rd, while Java has also improved its standing, now in 3rd place after previously being in 4th. Conversely, the programming language C has fallen from 2nd to 4th place.

The Tiobe Index is a monthly ranking that assesses the popularity of programming languages based on web search results. It is important to note that while the index provides insights into language popularity, it does not necessarily reflect actual usage statistics.
