Danish National Settles Tax Evasion Case at Hamburg Airport
Hamburg - A 47-year-old man from Denmark was apprehended at Hamburg Airport by federal police after arriving from Ankara. During routine checks on Sunday afternoon, authorities discovered that he was wanted by the Dortmund public prosecutor's office. The man was under investigation for tax evasion in four separate cases, which had been ongoing since August 2023.
The legal authorities had issued a warrant for his arrest, requiring him to pay a fine equivalent to 200 daily rates of 50 euros each or face 200 days of imprisonment as an alternative. Additionally, he was responsible for covering court costs amounting to 163.50 euros.
Unable to pay the demanded amount immediately, the individual reached out to his family for assistance. A relative in Ahlen responded promptly and arranged for the total sum of 10,163.50 euros to be paid to the police. As a result, the man was released from custody at approximately 6:20 PM the same day.
This incident underscores the ongoing efforts by authorities to combat tax evasion and enforce financial regulations.
