Court Hearing for 45-Year-Old Accused of Stalking Ex-Partner and Children

A 45-year-old man is facing trial at the Berlin District Court for a series of alleged stalking incidents involving his former partner and their two children. The accused reportedly engaged in harassing behavior over a period of approximately two and a half years, causing significant distress to the family.

The allegations detail that the man repeatedly appeared outside his ex-partner's residence in Berlin-Altglienicke, often playing loud music and shouting. Over 100 separate incidents have been documented, including instances where he sent numerous emails--sometimes as many as 15 per day--to his ex-partner.

The mother, aged 41, stated that the harassment began after their separation in February 2018, and despite a court ruling in 2022 that prohibited him from contacting their then-eight-year-old twins for two years, he continued to engage in disruptive behavior. Reports indicate that he knocked on doors, yelled for extended periods, and even climbed a metal staircase to look through the children's window, resulting in fear and panic.

In addition to stalking, the man is charged with multiple offenses including resisting arrest, assaulting law enforcement officers, bodily harm, threats, trespassing, property damage, and dangerous interference with traffic. The prosecution is seeking an indefinite commitment to a psychiatric hospital, citing the accused's long-standing mental health issues.

Aside from the harassment towards his family, the defendant has been implicated in other violent incidents, including an attack on a security guard at a psychiatric facility, where he allegedly attempted to strike the guard with a sickle. Additionally, he has reportedly assaulted drivers on multiple occasions.

Since February 2025, he has been held in a secure psychiatric facility, and the court proceedings are set to continue over the next four days, culminating on October 17.
