34-Year-Old Caretaker in Custody for Alleged Abuse of Eight Preschool Children
Marl, North Rhine-Westphalia - A disturbing case has emerged involving a 34-year-old employee at a kindergarten who has been accused of sexually abusing eight young children. The victims, aged between three and five years old, were allegedly subjected to these heinous acts in the kindergarten premises, which reportedly took place between December 2024 and late April 2025. The accused, who was in training as a caregiver, has been taken into custody.
The investigation began in May when two mothers filed a complaint with the police, stating that their daughters, aged four and five, had fallen victim to the caretaker's actions. According to the initial reports, the children disclosed that the caretaker had repeatedly touched them inappropriately.
Following the allegations, authorities conducted a search of the suspect's residence. During this search, police seized mobile phones, laptops, and various data storage devices; however, no immediate evidence of the alleged abuse was found. To ensure the safety of the children, the caretaker was prohibited from entering the kindergarten while investigations continued.
As the inquiry progressed, forensic analysts managed to recover deleted content from the suspect's phone, revealing photos and videos that depicted the sexual abuse of multiple children. This evidence indicated that the abuse may have been occurring over several months within the kindergarten's facilities.
In a subsequent search of the suspect's home, investigators also found clothing and jewelry worn by the perpetrator during the abuse, which matched items seen in the videos. Additionally, physical characteristics, such as moles on the suspect's arm, helped confirm his identity.
A spokesperson for the police stated that the parents of the affected children were promptly informed with the necessary sensitivity and discretion by the Recklinghausen police department. A warrant for the suspect's arrest was issued, and he has been in pre-trial detention since early September.
