Two Arrest Warrants Executed at Dessau Central Station
On October 4, 2025, a routine police check at Dessau Central Station led to the arrest of a 36-year-old man due to an outstanding arrest warrant. The Bundespolizei, or Federal Police, conducted the inspection around 14:50 hours and discovered that the individual was being sought for failing to fully pay a court-imposed fine of EUR400. This fine had been issued by the Amtsgericht Dessau-Roßlau (District Court of Dessau-Roßlau) on September 12, 2025. The man had made partial payments, which resulted in the threat of 14 days of coercive detention. Fortunately for him, he managed to pay the remaining EUR170 and was subsequently released after completing the necessary formalities.
However, a different fate awaited a 26-year-old man during a police check the following day, on October 5, 2025. At around 09:55 hours, he was found to have been sentenced to a fine of EUR1,600 due to drunken driving, a verdict handed down by the Amtsgericht Zerbst (District Court of Zerbst) in August 2024. Because he had not paid this fine, an alternative prison sentence of 80 days was ordered. Unable to raise the required amount, he was taken into custody to serve 40 days in the correctional facility. The police have informed the relevant authorities regarding the execution of these arrest warrants.
