Two Seriously Injured in Separate A10 Accidents, Rescue Helicopters Deployed

Over the weekend, two major accidents on the A10 motorway in Brandenburg required emergency response, resulting in two individuals sustaining severe injuries. Both incidents prompted the deployment of rescue helicopters to provide rapid medical assistance and transport to hospital facilities.

The first incident took place during the early hours near the Michendorf Süd service area in Potsdam-Mittelmark district. According to police reports, a 31-year-old male pedestrian was attempting to cross the motorway when he was struck by a heavy goods vehicle. Emergency services responded immediately, airlifting the injured man to a nearby hospital for treatment of serious injuries. The driver of the lorry, a 36-year-old woman, experienced shock as a result of the incident. Due to the severity of the collision, authorities temporarily closed the affected section of the motorway to traffic for approximately one hour while investigators secured the scene and began preliminary inquiries.

In a separate accident on Sunday afternoon, another critical situation unfolded at the Genshagen interchange in Ludwigsfelde, which lies within the Teltow-Fläming district. Here, a collision occurred between a motorcycle and a car at the motorway exit. Initial findings from the police indicate that the car failed to yield to the motorcycle, resulting in the motorcyclist colliding with the vehicle before hitting a guardrail. The 26-year-old rider suffered serious injuries and was transported to hospital by helicopter. The police confirmed that both vehicles involved were retained for forensic examination as part of ongoing investigations.

Property damage in the second incident was assessed at approximately 25,000 euros. Law enforcement authorities continue to investigate both accidents to determine the precise circumstances and any contributing factors.

The rapid response by emergency services, including the use of air rescue, played a critical role in ensuring prompt medical care for the injured individuals. These incidents underscore the ongoing risks present on major motorways, particularly in situations involving pedestrians and complex traffic patterns at busy interchanges.

Authorities remind all road users of the importance of adhering to traffic rules, maintaining vigilance, and exercising caution to prevent similar accidents. The investigations by local police and forensic teams are ongoing, with updates expected upon the conclusion of their findings.
