Eight hours of music on a beautiful summer's day

In the Neuhausen neighbourhood on Munich's westside, three excellent bands will be playing today at Rotkreuzplatz from 2 until 10 p.m. And the best part? It is completely free. Each year, the event sponsored by the district's well-known Hide-Out music and entertainment club brings some of the best local music out into the open air.

First up is the Chidley Group, which is purportedly the city's oldest blues band. At it for more than forty years, a band known for playing excellent Memphis Blues, they even accompanied Chuck Berry when he was here in 2007. Around 4:30 p.m., Dan Lucas and Threesome is playing in the middle slot of the bill. They specialise on hits from the 70s, 80s and 90s, and even play acoustic versions of today's hits.

Finally, headlining the event will be the Ron Evans Group. Some of the area's most respected musicians make up this band. The bandleader Ron Evans, who has been known to light up the stage with his guitar pyrotechnics, is joined by bassist Rodney Harley and drummer Carsten Enghardt. In addition, if you have not seen saxophonist Steve Hooks, you are in for a treat. The Ron Evans Group will be taking the stage at 6 p.m. and will be rocking the night away.

Whether you can only make it for one of the acts or stay for the entire time, this is one of the highpoints of Munich's summer music season.
