The coach, with 59 passengers from Munich, overturned and crashed into a ditch early Sunday morning in eastern Belgium. A 18-year-old from Hessen died, and numerous other people were injured.

According to the Belga News agency, the bus was registered in the Czech Republic and was on its way from Paris to Munich when the accident occurred. It has also been reported that the driver may have been asleep at the wheel.

Whether the group aboard were members of a sporting team, a school group or from a holiday camp is still unknown. "The German embassy is involved in the case," said a spokesperson from the Foreign Office.
