Communications Industry Consulting – Billing Business Process Architect


This is a position within the Oracle Communications Business Process & Asset consulting team, focussed on driving a business process-centric approach to consulting sales and delivery.
This is a global role – part of a team currently based in UK and west coast US, requiring interaction and occasional travel to Oracle offices and customer locations internationally.
The primary purpose of the role will be to define “best practise” business processes and other consulting assets (e.g. architecture blueprints, project infrastructure collateral and tools), around which consulting solutions are built.
The candidate will be expected to contribute Business and Application architecture experience and vision to the team, sourced from a deep practical understanding of Billing & Revenue Management solution implementation in the Communications industry.
The role requires a strong Billing solution consulting background, with solution architecture delivery experience into combined BSS + OSS system implementation projects. The candidate will need to demonstrate a proven history leading solution definition engagements, based around defining “best practise” business processes, “COTS” product-driven functionality and use cases. Delivery experience based on Oracle’s BSS product suite (e.g. BRM, combined with Siebel, AIA, OSM) is essential.
The role will involve significant engagement with the consulting sales and delivery organisations, but also engagement with product marketing, management, development and license sales. The candidate would preferably have prior engagement experience and contacts within those organisations and demonstrate an understanding of their different drivers and constraints.


Works as a member of the Oracle Communications Consulting Business Process & Assets (BP&A) team
Primary focus as a Billing solution (Business Process, Application systems and Integration) architecture expert within the team.
Contributes and builds Oracle Communications Consulting knowledge of Billing solution architecture sales & delivery best practise.
Leads Billing-centric definition and contributes to the build of Communications industry solution assets - including business process models, architecture blueprints, implementation sales and delivery best practise and effort estimation guides.
Demonstrates and maintains a knowledge of key Communications industry customer implementation delivery issues, Oracle strategic programmes and objectives.
Engages as BP&A lead with Oracle consulting sales and delivery teams, product marketing, management, development and license sales. Engages directly with customers, as BP&A consulting subject matter expert, where previously agreed as part of a consulting sales or delivery engagement.
Works both individually and together with other Oracle staff at Oracle and customer sites (nationally and internationally) as/when required

Enable accelerated project implementation by promoting the adoption of a methodology based on Business Process-Centric Assets Packs
Fully participates in team deliverable planning
Leads team deliverables, where required to fulfil a specific goal
Supports, coaches and mentors other consultants to achieve team objectives
Understands general Communications industry market and trends
Understands the Oracle solution footprint for Communications at both architectural and more detailed implementation level, including
competitive offerings
portfolio of case studies of implementations
contacts in the product development / management / strategy teams
the strategic direction of the Oracle solution and how it fits with the customer’s IT strategy

Job Requirements

10+ years software implementation experience, preferably with a consulting background
5+ years architecture, design and development/implementation management experience of Communications Billing applications (e.g. Oracle BRM), plus experience of related technology products (e.g. Oracle middleware, including Application Integration Architecture and former BEA products)
Preferable to have an existing network of contacts in Oracle Product Management / Development / Strategy teams
Subject matter expertise in Communications industry requirements, business processes, architecture/design best practises and factors that affect end-customer satisfaction
Excellent presentation and communication skills, proven through interaction with IT and Business owners in customer organisations
Proven ability to build, leverage, motivate and lead distributed virtual teams, across organisation boundaries, across internal Lines of Business.
Ability to define, take ownership and manage multiple concurrent projects and tasks
Proven ability to bridge business and delivery functions (e.g. map IT onto business requirements and leverage appropriate delivery resources to meet the requirements)
Experience of project management and planning processes
